Site Tips

These apply for sites in general, but specially on myspace sites. These are just suggestions so take them as you come

Graphic Skills

*It is important that you have some kind of experience with any photoshopping program other than Paint. You don't ahve to an expert, you will learn TONS of things after you acquire a site!
*There's tons of programs out there if Photoshop is out of range for you (it is quite expensive). If you do some research you can find excellent programs for less than $100 or even free (like the Gimp). The cheapest Photoshop is the Element edition and its usually between 50-100 bucks. See? You don't need a uber expensive program to shine.
*I would recommend staying far,far away from online editing sites such as lunapic. Yes, they do make pictures pretty and whatnot, but save it for your personal site pictures. Lunapic does not really offer high quality editing and you can tell the difference between a lunapic-edited picture and a photoshopped picture. It's just tacky.
* PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE! Everyone started from zero one time. Play with the different settings in your program, read tutorials, or try to create your own unique style! It is important that you coem up with somethign creative to attract more people to your site. You don't want to ahve the same style as everyone else.

Supporting/Advertising

*Supporting is the fastest way to gain friends. Just remember this a)most personals sites don't have as many friends as you, so repeated bulletins=annoyance from friends and b)give yourself a limit of support bulletins a day, and do not surpass it.
*Trains are becoming a popular support type, but make sure your joining a good one. How so? a) Look at the train code and if the sites all look the same, don't join b)The train should link you to your SITE, NOT to the ADDING REQUEST. People should add your site because they like it, not to collect friends.
*Gaining frinds sometimes gets slow and it happens! SOmetimes it might feel you need more friends to get your site out there (and its true) but just be patient. It's better to be known for your graphics than for your friends. Trust me on that one :)
*For subdomains and domains, affies is the way to go. Also check other sites that might offer advertisement. Make sure you spend some time creating eye-catching banners and buttons in order to give a good first impression.

Organization

*Your site should be easy to navigate. Make headers to guide newcomers; create an update section so people can check what's new on your site. Your page should not be sloppy or too long; make sure links are clearly visibly and create an esay-to-access FAQ section.
*Blogs aren't the only place to store your things. There are many websites that offer hosting for graphics such as photobucket.com and box.net. Box.net is amazing; it's sort of like photobucket, but more simple but you can store ANY sort of file, including PSDs and you choose which files you wanna share.
*Make your page interesting...maybe do an awesome DIV or an image rollover to access the content in your site. Make the background of your lyt eye-catching (but not too extreme either!) and make sure to keep updating.

Crediting/Resources

* You know the internet-you can pretty much get anything you want just by typing some words in google. It is still important to credit, specially brushes, to the sites you took them from. Just create a section of credits and list the websites that have provided with things for you. Its polite and it shows respect for the other sites.
*NEVER EVER EVER JOCK. No matter how tempting, how easy, or how much you hate a site. PEOPLE WILL FIND OUT. I know there's millions and millions of myspace pages, but like I said before, the internet is made to find anything.
*Photobucket can be your friend/enemy. If you credit photobucket, you're not relly credting anyone specifically. Remember, all those shared pictures came from someone's computer, and there's a big change they didnt make them. To find pictures and store your graphics, yes, to use backgrounds, not so much.

Miscellanous

*Creating a backup site is a very good "investment." The internet will never be hacker-free. Having a backup makes the process easier if you get deleted/hacker, because you will already have a site to fall back on.
*It is proven by numerous studies that people who makes friends online are more likely to forgue stronger relationships in the real world AND to be more outgoin (idk if that part applies to me). Meeting people through your site is fun; but keep it safe and get to know people slowly. NEVER give out address or phone numbers, and if in the end, you guys do end up meeting, do it ina public place, preferably crowded, in the day and go with a friend. Plus friends means= free supporting, free gifts, advertisement for your site, fun times on a boring day!
*If you REALLY want to quit your site, I recommend you don't delete it.Theres a huge chance you might be tempted to come back, so wouldnt it suck to start again? (like me?) Just delete all your stuff from your site or block access to blogs and picture. Problem solved. *SUbdomains and domains: make sure to keep teh bandwidth on check!

Well, Ill be adding more if I have any good ones.
